    My Morning Matcha Latte

Swapping out your morning coffee with a matcha green tea latte might be a difficult (but not impossible) thing to do. For me personally, it’s in the afternoons when my body and mind need a relaxing space, to regroup and prepare to focus on the work ahead until the work day is finally over. Matcha provides a soothing sense of calm. Unlike coffee, which might influence your sleep quality if consumed in the afternoon, the subtle caffeine content
of matcha latte will give you a calm state of mind and awareness, while gently boosting your energy.
When I first tasted matcha, I have to admit that I wasn’t really into the taste. A friend of mine introduced me to the world of these green lattes, and found that in the right combination matcha powder is actually really interesting. If you haven’t tried matcha before, having a matcha green tea latte is a great start, especially the coconut milk one, which is my favorite. The mild sweet taste and creaminess of coconut perfectly balance the rich flavor of matcha powder, creating a delicious combination. The matcha coconut latte ads a nice variety to my normal routine.

    Coconuts and Concentration

I see the matcha coconut latte making process as a form of meditation, just as this green powder is used for the cha-do, the tea ceremony. Throughout the day, my multi-tasking job can easily slide my mind towards overwhelm, and moments like these, when I’m focusing on creating a drink that I know will have such a calming effect on my thoughts, make the most welcomed pause during a day at work. I try to stay aware to every step I’m making for creating the latte, and this anchors me in the present and makes the transition to the calm state of mind that matcha latte gives.

Also, giving its delicate antioxidants, this green tea latte recipe requires a little bit of attention and finesse, to make sure you get the maximum benefits from the green powder and that you don’t destroy its powerful nutrients. Antioxidants, chlorophyll and amino acids, they are all present in high concentrations into matcha powder.

While chlorophyll nourishes our body cells with oxygen and boosts their natural detoxification process and antioxidants reduce the free radicals damage and slow aging, it’s the amino-acid L-theanine that have the calming effect on our mind and bodies. It also stimulates the serotonin and dopamine production, the neurotransmitters of our most desired conditions – happiness and wellbeing.
